There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown
Genesis 6:4
The concept of a “daemon” or “demon” is not in the Bible, they are devils. “Daemons” are from Greek mythology and philosophy, Socrates and Plato both saying they received guidance from spirits they called “daemons.”
The concept of “Nephilim” as being the children of men and demons is not biblical. The term “Nephilim,” as portrayed in the more recent, corrupted translations of the Bible (ASV, RSV, NIV, ESV), is found in two Old Testament texts — in Genesis 6:4 and in Numbers 13:33. In the King James Bible, the preserved Word of God, the original term is rendered by “giants.”
And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.
Numbers 13:33
There is a common view that the Nephilim were the offspring of sexual relationships between men and angels (Laney 1997, 20-22). There is absolutely no evidence for that theory, which actually has roots in Greek mythology. In fact, this interpretation is contrary to the explicit testimony of Scripture. Angels are spirits (Heb. 1:14) and do not possess, therefore, physical attributes (Lk. 24:39). God has never called an angel a “son of God”, reserving this term for saved believers. (Heb 1:15) While angels sometimes temporarily assumed the forms of men (cf. Acts 10:3, 30), they were not actual physical beings. Jesus emphatically stated that angels do not marry (Mt. 22:30; Mk. 12:25; Lk. 20:34ff).
The fact is, the language of Genesis 6:1ff does not demand that the Nephilim of verse six were the offspring of the unions mentioned in verse two. The presence of the Nephilim may be regarded as merely contemporary (“in those days”) with the marriages described in the context.
There is also absolutely no mention at all ever again of this supposed idea that there are devils that can mate with human women, which would be strange to leave out and never return to ever again throughout the entirety of the Bible.
